Metal Gear Solid 4

Posted by On May - 21 - 2009

Metal Gear Solid is a stealth action video and computer game directed by Hideo Kojima. The game was developed by Konami computer entertainment Japan and first published by Konami in 198 for the Playstation video game console. It’s the third canonical title released in the Metal Gear series, and a direct sequel to Metal Gear 2: Solid snake. It is said to be the first stealth game. In this game the player must avoid being seen by the enemy rather than fight them. The game has several cinematic qualities, such as lengthy cut scenes, which caused some to call it an interactive movie.

Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake, a retired soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons disposal facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit Snake must liberate their two hostages, the head of Darpa and the president of a major arms manufacturer, confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike.

Metal Gear Solid was well received by the public, and more than six million copies were sold. The success of the game prompted the release of an expanded version for the Playstation and PC, Metal Gear Solid: Integral, the remake. Metal Gear Solid: The twin snakes were later released for the Nintendo Game cube.

Despite being in 3D, Metal Gear Solid’s game play is still similar it’s original 2D MsX2 predecessor Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. The player must navigate the protagonist Solid Snake through the game’s areas without being detected by enemies. Detection is triggered by the player moving into the enemy’s field of vision and sets off an alarm that draws armed enemies to his location. The alarm mode is also set off and the player must then hide and remain undetected by the enemy at this point the evasion mode starts and as soon as the counter reaches zero the game returns to the infiltration mode where the enemy is no longer suspicious of Snake’s presence. Radar cannot be used in alert or the evasion modes.

To remain undetected, the player can perform techniques which make use of Solid Snake’s abilities and the environment, such as crawling under objects, using boxes as cover, ducking or hiding around walls, and making noise to distract the enemy. These are carried out using the third person camera; which will often change its angle to give the player the best strategic view of the area possible, and an on-screen radar, which displays enemy personnel and their field of vision Snake can also make use of many items and gadgets, such as thermal goggles or a Cardboard box disguise. The emphasis on stealth promotes a less violent form of game play , as firefights against large groups of enemies will often result in heavy damage for the player’s character

Intermixed with the player’s progress are plot-progressing Cut scenes and radio conversations as well as encounters with boss characters To progress, players must discover weaknesses of these enemies (such as attack patterns) to defeat them. This is where the player will most often use the game’s weapon-set, ranging from pistols to rocket launchers and hand grenades game controls and play strategies can also be accessed via the Codec radio, where advice is delivered

from Snake’s support crew as if the character were playing the video game; the support team may chastise Snake for not saving his progress often enough, or explain his combat moves in terms of which buttons to press on the gamepad. The Codec is also used to provide expression on the game’s back story. Completion of the title provides the player with a statistical summary of their performance, and a “code name” based upon it, typically the common name of an animal.

In a first for the Metal Gear series, a training mode is available in which players can practice hiding techniques, weapons use, and sneaking. In addition to the stealth game play, there are Set piece sequences that entail firefights between the player and the enemy from the third-person and first person perspectives.

Mod chips are excellent tools for your Playstation that will allow you to play backed up games as well as games made outside of your region.

There are a lot of programs on the market that will allow you to do a backup of any Playstation 2 Video Game and make it possible for you to keep your games even if your original disc gets scratched, warped, broken or burned.

If you are searching for programs to assist you in your PS2 backup, the first place you might want to try a site such as change  Allpspgames.com. This is an excellent source for programs of many varieties, including PS2 backup programs. Review Of Patapon

Posted by On February - 25 - 2008

Patapon 2

Patapon, by putting two genres together, rhythm and strategy, Patapon is a completely new type of Playstation 2 Video Game. Playing as Patapon, you beat the war drums that lead the patapons into battle against their foes, the Zigatons, in order to reach earth end, where they hope to find the mysterious “It.” From the onset, you might find the game to be simplistic, but don’t be fooled by the art design and music ; this is an immensely challenging and rewarding game.

The game seems deceptively easy from the start. It quickly gives you the first drum beats as the signal for marching forward and attacking. The screen is outlines by a thin screen, which beats with the beats of the background music; this time Is used to time your button presses. Timing is the key, and to execute the moves you want you must input the correct sequence with the beat.In-game controls amount to little more than this, so you’ll be able to give your full attention to issuing commands. Building up combos lets you activate fever mode, this boost your stats which is necessary for the implementing other drum commands later in the game.

It can be very tricky anticipating your enemies movements. If you think a boss will attack, you should tap the beats for a defensive maneuver before it moves. This might cause you to replay certain levels a few times, since your enemies can deplete your army.

The layout for your troops should be well planned for each mission. The replaying of some levels is the key to success, which enables you to earn more money, supplies and Armour so as to properly outfit your Patapons for war. You should have the right formation for the task at hand. Because if you are going hunting, it would serve you best to have the ax-wielding Patapon away from the front, because of the possibility of scaring away the prey. Also if your are going up against a dragon breathing fire, another Patapon is susceptible to fire, you might want to make sure they’re in the rear for that level.

It might sound a bit burdensome, especially if you don’t usually get your kicks from strategy games, but this is not a game that gets bogged down in the details. You will have to do some management between levels, but the interface is clean and fun to use. Furthermore, the battles themselves are a delight, and using music to perform all of the commands is such a unique and enjoyable experience that just about anyone can get into it.

Kemmei Adachi, the man behind Loco Roco, provides the music which immediately is a treat.
Patapon’s soundtrack isn’t as robust the game, because the focus is more on drum beats than melodies, but the tunes are still catchy, and it won’t take long for “pon pon pata pon” gets engrained in your brain. What the visuals lack in substance, they make up for in style. The Patapons themselves are incredibly personable, and the environments and enemies look like they were ripped straight from the classic children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are.

Replaying levels gives you the opportunity to unearth new treasures and stories.
Patapon is obscure, hopefully not to the point that the casual gamer will not overlook it, for it’s one of the most original and refreshing Playstation 2 Video Game.
