Metal Gear Solid is a stealth action video and computer game directed by Hideo Kojima.The game was developed by Konami computer entertainment Japan and first published by Konami in 198 for the Playstation video game console. It’s the third canonical title released in the Metal Gear series, and a direct sequel to Metal Gear 2: Solid snake. It is said to be the first stealth game. In this game the player must avoid being seen by the enemy rather than fight them. The game has several cinematic qualities, such as lengthy cut scenes, which caused some to call it an interactive movie.

Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake, a retired soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons disposal facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit Snake must liberate their two hostages, the head of Darpa and the president of a major arms manufacturer, confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike.

Metal Gear Solid was well received by the public, and more than six million copies were sold. The success of the game prompted the release of an expanded version for the Playstation and PC, Metal Gear Solid: Integral, the remake. Metal Gear Solid: The twin snakes were later released for the Nintendo Game cube.

Despite being in 3D, Metal Gear Solid’s game play is still similar it’s original 2D MsX2 predecessor Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. The player must navigate the protagonist Solid Snake through the game’s areas without being detected by enemies. Detection is triggered by the player moving into the enemy’s field of vision and sets off an alarm that draws armed enemies to his location. The alarm mode is also set off and the player must then hide and remain undetected by the enemy at this point the evasion mode starts and as soon as the counter reaches zero the game returns to the infiltration mode where the enemy is no longer suspicious of Snake’s presence. Radar cannot be used in alert or the evasion modes.

To remain undetected, the player can perform techniques which make use of Solid Snake’s abilities and the environment, such as crawling under objects, using boxes as cover, ducking or hiding around walls, and making noise to distract the enemy. These are carried out using the third person camera; which will often change its angle to give the player the best strategic view of the area possible, and an on-screen radar, which displays enemy personnel and their field of vision Snake can also make use of many items and gadgets, such as thermal goggles or a Cardboard box disguise. The emphasis on stealth promotes a less violent form of game play , as firefights against large groups of enemies will often result in heavy damage for the player’s character

Intermixed with the player’s progress are plot-progressing Cut scenes and radio conversations as well as encounters with boss characters To progress, players must discover weaknesses of these enemies (such as attack patterns) to defeat them. This is where the player will most often use the game’s weapon-set, ranging from pistols to rocket launchers and hand grenades game controls and play strategies can also be accessed via the Codec radio, where advice is delivered

In a first for the Metal Gear series, a training mode is available in which players can practice hiding techniques, weapons use, and sneaking. In addition to the stealth game play, there are Set piece sequences that entail firefights between the player and the enemy from the third-person and first person perspectives.

I recently came across this article on Orlandosentinel.com, No surprise here… Grand Theft Auto IV smashed records earning $500 million on 6 million units it’s first week, with $310 million of that and 3.6 million units sold on release day.

This announcement was reportedly made by Take-Two Interactive, by way of a press release which gives the details of Rockstar Games Grand theft Auto IV had broken the Entertainment Launch Records.

Take-Two Interactive said that Grand Theft Auto IV had surpassed the all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value.

Grand Theft Auto IV was released on Tuesday, April 29th. This critically acclaimed video game has sold approximately 6 million units globally with an estimated revalue of more than $500 million in the first week alone. Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day alone which translates to approximately $310 million globally.

They developers said that “We knew Grand Theft Auto IV would break new ground in terms of the player’s experience, with its compelling story line, extraordinary gameplay and action that ranges over a broad urban canvas.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a sandbox style action adventure computer and video game, produce by Rockstar North. It is the third 3D video game in the Grand Theft Auto Video game series.

Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda has thirteen levels, which takes the gamer on a journey depicted in the animated movie adventure. The voice work of Jack black is very impressive, with a few twists thrown in. Starting out as a noodle shop apprentice at the beginning of the game, Panda Po is thrown into an epic battle against the evil Tai Lung. Po will have to come to the rescue to save the day by becoming the fabled Dragon Warrior.

Before starting the game, players can select Student, Master or the Dragon Warrior difficulty setting, giving the control on how hard the want the adventures to be. The game features standard platform style gaming with lots of coins to collect, wave after wave of hogs, and boxes to smash open and gorillas to vanquish.

The game play also comes to life with additional styles, like aiming and shooting huge catapults and pushing button combos in rhythm, with flying scenes and rolling Po around in his Panda Ball Sonic the Hedgehog. Players controls members of the Furious Five at points, and the ability to purchase upgrades to Po’s stats, attacks and even outfits with the coins collected throughout the various levels. There is a multiplayer option which allows up to four friends to fight each other in an arena style fights.

The game has an ESRB rating of E10+, with content describe as Fantasy Violence and Mild Language. Just like in the movies, fighting is a major part of the game. Po picks up numerous combo attacks throughout the adventure, many graphic in nature – from super-charged body slams and devastating “panda quakes” to juggling enemies before punching them out. No blood or gore is present, however, defeated enemies disappear in a cloud of dust. The language used which may cause some concern are freaking awesome and compliments like you did not suck and the likes.

Since the original Mercenaries, much has change in the gaming industry, which is over three and a half years. The developer Pandemic relies on the game’s proven formula for this sequel, Blowing things up can be fun. World In Flames doesn’t do much to evolve that formula, but this is one of those rare cases where that’s all right Mercs still does open world destruction the best.

Different scenery from North Korea to Venezuela, World in Flames‘ environment is a lot more varied where it counts — thick jungles, rocky canyons, dilapidated shanty towns, and large expanses of water keep things visually interesting. The diverse terrain makes basic exploration more engaging. Taking into consideration its size, the game still feels meticulously built.

The main attraction is that every object within it can be destroyed with enough firepower. From oilrigs, to trees, nothing is safe from be destroyed. I was engaged in a mission of taking out a target on a hill, not knowing what was behind it, I had my truck packed with allies and I rocketed over the hill. I cleared the outer wall the open air base and ended up in the center of my enemies. We got out, no sooner our ride was blown up, and the scene was absolute chaos. With many objects available in play with different ingredients for destruction, no two base raids are the same.

Like in previous Mercs, World In Flames will have you doing missions for different factions, like the People’s Liberation Army of Venezuela and Universal Petroleum initially, while dealing with the hostile rebel VZ forces, in the course of your mission of taking down drug lord Ramon Solano. The story is not that interesting, but the option of running missions for different forces against one another is good; you can easily turn off friendly factions and you would not get any work from them until you get back into their good graces, but there are dozens of missions on the side you can do to get back in favor. New weapons, air strikes, and vehicles are constantly added to your arsenal and unlocked for purchase as you complete missions, and they’re all available as airborne drop-offs whenever you need them.

The mechanical addition in World In Flames works well, you can get helicopters from the ground; a button-pressing mini game is tied into vehicle jacking and you will have the ability to swim. All driving controls are mapped to the face buttons instead of the triggers and can’t be changed. Loading target into the helicopter could be difficult if you are not within the specific loading zone. While Mercs is awesome, I do not think it can be considered realistic.

You can bypass some problems by using a real buddy via online co-op throughout the campaign. This was assumed to be a good feature, but the execution is not ideal. Like Grand Theft Auto, you can’t be on opposite ends of the world from one another and stay within a relatively restrictive radius. When a mission to steal and deliver a car ask you to deliver two cars instead while playing co-op, it’s good, but because you cannot drive too far ahead of your partners while being fired upon, makes things even harder compared to playing by yourself. There are some glitches in the co-ops sessions, which is difficult to tell if it is because of the network. Any playing the game with a friend can work with some sacrifices on your part, this is fun and not much of a critical feature. While Mercs does not have anything new, it is all about having fun as long as you enjoy blowing things up.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a stealth video and computer game, many fans around the world had been waiting for. The sequel to MGS2 is finally here, and it was on my mind for a long time since it was announced in 2005.

I can confidently say that the Metal Gear Solid series is the best ever. It is my all time favorite and one that has impacted my life. This is the sort of effects Metal Gear Solid can have on people.

Metal Gear Solid was a class act. I never thought any video game would surpass it at all. Metal Gear Solid 2 was a sequel and even though it was played as Raiden it had an adrenaline pumping setting. Metal Gear Solid 3 was also a beautiful game, with awesome commentary about the Cold War era and the way people lived then.

The Playstation Video Game Metal Gear Solid 4 is the Game of the Year, no question about it. There doesn’t seem to be anymore games coming up that can surpass it.

This is my honest review the Metal Gear Solid series which I followed since 1998.

The Graphics:

Visually the game is simply beautiful. I looks simply amazing, especially the Middle Eastern cities and the Shadow Moses. The landscape is so well laid out one can gets the impression that it is real. The sky is amazing and the way the environment and setting looks is incredible. The characters look like real people, which make you feel sorry, happy or even angry with them. It has a smooth texture which is sharp.

The Sound:

The sound is incredible. The use of great voice, great surround sound brings life to the game while fighting the Gekko. It surprising when the Gekko that is hidden somewhere suddenly spots you and attacks. The sound track is simply beautiful like with the other games and the new IPod feature is great to use in many situations especially if you like nostalgia.

The Game play:

Game play in Metal Gear Solid 4 is extremely brilliant. You have the options of Stealth or Cunning to get past enemies or go trigger happy. Snake is so controllable which make it fun to use the MK.22 to scout ahead or even use the Octocamo or engage in gun battles.

Even the Boss battles are great in this Playstation video game, and continue on from Metal Gear Solid 1 and 3’s Boss battles, now using Dolby Digital 5.1 for enhanced psychological effects. The bosses are in-depth so you can learn from them like the previous Metal Gear Solid video games. You actually get to pilot a Metal Gear in the game, which just feels great. You can customize the guns and weapons you need to get Drebin Points which is explained in great detail in the game itself. You can even change your appearance, from Young snake with a Bandanna to MGS1 Snake, all with the Octocamo.

The Story:

The story though emotional is great. As with the three previous ones which were unbelievable, using great script, plot twists, drama, voice acting and settings. In addition to being fantastic, the game reveals all the secrets of the previous Metal Gear Solid games.

Replay ability:

The Drebin Points, uniforms, items and dolls that you obtain on previous play thoughts transfer into new ones, it gives a fresh feeling starting the game over again numerous times. You can unlock the weapons, which beats the game on all of its difficulties while trying to understand the interesting story.

The effects on other games:

In my estimation, if you play any Playstation 2 video game after Metal Gear Solid 4, that is not a Metal Gear game will feel obsolete and you will not want to play them anymore especially when you find out how fun Metal Gear Solid 4 is. If you are a true Playstation 2 Video Gamer, I guarantee you’ll love Metal Gear Solid 4 and you will start caring about the storyline of games and not become desperate to invest in mindless games.
