Final Fantasy X is a console role- playing game developed by Square Enix and it the tenth in the Final Fantasy series. It was first released in 2001 for the Playstation 2 Video Game console. Final Fantasy X has sold around 6.6 million units worldwide and was voted by readers of the Japanese video game magazine Famitsu to be the greatest video game of all-time. Final Fantasy X marks the Final Fantasy series’ transition from entirely Pre-rendered backdrops to fully three –dimensional areas, which was achieved by use of the PlayStation 2 video game Emotion Engine processor. Although pre-rendered backgrounds are not entirely absent, their use has been restricted to less vibrant locations, such as building interiors. Final Fantasy X is also the first game in the series to feature a wide range of realistic facial expressions, as well as other technological developments in graphical effects achieved, such as variance in lighting and shadow from one section of a character’s clothing to the next. Final Fantasy X is also the first in the series to feature Voice-over actors, as well as the first to spawn a direct sequel, Final Fantasy X 2.

There are other significant advances in the Final Fantasy X series. For example because of the use of the voice-overstep scenes in the game are paced according to the time it takes for the dialogue to be spoken, whereas in the previous games series incorporated scrolling subtitles. Players are given the opportunity to develop and improve their characters by defeating enemies and acquiring items, though the traditional Experience point system was replaced by a new system called the “Sphere Grid”. The game was initially going to feature online elements, but these were dropped during production, and online multi-player gaming would not become part of the Final Fantasy series until Final Fantasy X.

I recently came across this article on Orlandosentinel.com, No surprise here… Grand Theft Auto IV smashed records earning $500 million on 6 million units it’s first week, with $310 million of that and 3.6 million units sold on release day.

This announcement was reportedly made by Take-Two Interactive, by way of a press release which gives the details of Rockstar Games Grand theft Auto IV had broken the Entertainment Launch Records.

Take-Two Interactive said that Grand Theft Auto IV had surpassed the all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value.

Grand Theft Auto IV was released on Tuesday, April 29^th. This critically acclaimed video game has sold approximately 6 million units globally with an estimated revalue of more than $500 million in the first week alone. Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day alone which translates to approximately $310 million globally.

They developers said that “We knew Grand Theft Auto IV would break new ground in terms of the player’s experience, with its compelling story line, extraordinary gameplay and action that ranges over a broad urban canvas.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a sandbox style action adventure computer and video game, produce by Rockstar North. It is the third 3D video game in the Grand Theft Auto Video game series.

Word is out that Assassins Creed, the gen title that gripped everyone at this years E3 is indeed coming soon to Xbox 360. This has confirmed the rumors that were floating so long, and it comes on the heels of the news this week that the game would be coming to the Pc.

Assassin’s Creed for Xbox 360 release will coincide with the new version of Playstation 3. The new title is being developed by Ubisoft’s Montreal team; this same group has put out gems such as Tom Clancy’s splinter Cell and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

The tradition of the previous game is carried on in Guitar Hero, and it is an improvement over Amplitude. I has a guitar controller, which is a half-size plastic guitar with five coloured buttons on the neck. You “strum” a two inch long lever, and the guitar even includes a bendy bar.

The controller gives the feel like Amplitude or Frequency while it is being used, except that you sometimes have to hold down the notes over time, which wasn’t a feature in the previous games. The ability to use the joystick is handy when you are in the two player mode against a friend and you cannot afford to buy a second guitar.
You may ask yourself how do I actually play a song? Easy to learn, difficult to master.

The coloured buttons on the neck correspond to coloured dots on the moving score of the song. As the score approaches you, and as coloured dots approach and cross a line right in front of you, you have to have the correct coloured button held down as you strum the guitar. the note will then change to a different one, so you will have to change your fingering before your next strum.

Problems? Yes, a few. My biggest complaint (though not that big in absolute terms - this is a great game) is that the mapping of music tracks to game tracks isn’t as fun as many of the tracks in Frequency and Amplitude were. In those game you’d really get into a groove and really enjoy how the tracks were arranged by the developers.

Guitar Hero doesn’t have quite the same creativity when it came to laying down the tracks. As well, the game ramps up in difficulty way too fast. The hardest setting is clearly impossible for everyone without a genetically enhanced metabolism. (This was also a problem with Frequency and Amplitude.)

Does this game has any problems? Yes it does have a few. The mapping of the music tracks to the game tracks is not as good as in Frequency or Amplitude. Those games really got you in the groove because of how the tracks were arranged by the developers.
